There are many series of Breyer Horses including the most popular one, the Traditional Horse Series. Since 1950, Breyer has designed authentic model horses for collectors and enthusiasts of all ages. Each model is sculpted from highly durable plastic, then hand-painted and airbrushed for the most realistic possible appearance. Breyer collectibles have been popular with kids for over 50 years! Each Breyer horse is a work of art. The creation process begins on a sculptor's table, where accomplished equine artists sculpt famous horses out of clay. The Breyer Horse sculptors painstakingly define and capture each detail, from physical aspect of bone structure, muscle tone, relative size and overall shape, to character and mood. The final pieces of art are cast in steel, injection molded of cellulose acetate, a highly durable plastic, and hand-painted and airbrushed to attain their realistic appearance.
